The General Services Administration and Department of Defense have agreed to jointly administer GSA's Federal Telecommunications Service International Direct Distance Dialing (ID3) contract which is scheduled to be awarded in Fiscal Year 1997. Under the agreement, DISA/DITCO (Defense Information Systems Agency, Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization) will administer service for the Defense Department customers while GSA will serve other Government agencies. The ID3 contract will be a timely replacement for the current DOD International Switched Voice Services contract which expires in 1997.

This agreement marks the first time that DOD and GSA/FTS, have agreed to create a strategic partnership which combines their telecommunications requirements in a single acquisition. The GSA/DOD partnership is intended to provide a convenient, economical way for Federal customers to satisfy their international telecommunications needs.
