Reserve Officer in White House Commissioning Ceremony

Ghanbari is an Associated Press photographer assigned to the White House who also serves in the Navy Reserve.

People with all types of training, including photographers like Ghanbari, are welcome to join the Navy Reserve. Ghanbari is one of over 49,000 Navy reservists who train near home for a minimum of one weekend a month until they are called to Active Duty. These reservists are always ready to serve on the same level as active-duty servicemembers.

Although the president is not normally involved in commissioning ceremonies, the president serves as the commander in chief of all the Armed Forces.
