Prepare to Take the Challenge

Already a DOE Challenge Home partner?

Log in to your account and view marketing materials. Current Builders Challenge partners must register with DOE Challenge Home to participate in the new challenge.

Builders seeking to participate in the DOE Challenge Home can prepare by doing the following:

  • Review the technical guidelines and talk to your Home Energy Rater or other approved third-party verifier about what it will take to meet the challenge.

  • Review the builder agreement and verifier agreement between DOE and Partners associated with the Partnership Agreement.

  • Ensure that your organization has the contact information for a signatory or company representative authorized to bind your organization to the terms of this Agreement.

  • Gather information to ensure that you can fill out the Agreement. You must provide the following information to complete your application:

    • Organization Information: includes name, physical address, primary phone, average number of homes built per year, and parent organization (if applicable).

    • Contacts: one or more contacts for your organization; includes name, role in organization, mailing address, email and phone.

    • Optional Builder Commitments - 100% Commitment, Utility Bill Waiver (coming soon), EPA Indoor airPLUS, EPA WaterSense for New Single-Family Homes, Fortified for Safer Living, Quality Management Program.

  • Complete the orientation training webinar that reviews the benefits and technical guidelines for constructing a Challenge Home. To sign up, call 301-889-0017 or email doechallengehome@newportpartnersllc.com. Your account will become active once you have completed the orientation.
