TORII STATION, OKINAWA , JAPAN — April 17, 2008 — DoDDS-Pacific/DDESS-Guam will sponsor the 29th Far East Honor Music Festival at Yokota High School, Yokota Air Base, Japan, April 21-25. Approximately 180 student musicians, from the 13 DoDDS-Pacific/DDESS-Guam high schools, have successfully completed a highly competitive audition process which began in December of 2007.

The selected student musicians will rehearse four full days readying pre-selected music for a culminating concert performance on Friday, April 25. This concert will be held at 6:30 P.M at the Taiyo Community Center, Yokota Air Base. Admission is free and the public is heartily invited to attend and experience the outstanding musicianship of these selected students from throughout the DoDDS-Pacific/ DDESS-Guam area.

The Far East Honor Music Festival is the largest non-athletic event sponsored by DoDDS-Pacific/DDESS-Guam . “These 180 student musicians began their journey to this Festival many years ago. The dedication, commitment and perseverance to hone their skills and excel in music remains inspirational,” said Dr. Nancy Bresell, Director, DoDDS-Pacific/DDESS-Guam.

“I wish to acknowledge the support from the administrators, teachers, and parents whose devotion serves as the key ingredient for their success.  I also want to recognize the support we receive from the Japan district for hosting this incredible program,” explained Bresell.
