NEPA

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 is a basic charter for the protection of the environment.  All proposed actions affecting public lands or resources must be reviewed for NEPA compliance. NEPA procedures ensure that environmental information is available to public officials and citizens before decisions are made and before actions are taken.

Click here for more information about the NEPA Process.

The Bureau of Land Management Nevada is in the process of deploying ePlanning, a collaborative system for developing NEPA documents. This system was designed for developing Resource Management Plans (RMP’s), and BLM Nevada is pioneering the move toward using ePlanning for developing NEPA documents. Presently, four Nevada districts have received training; plans to train the remaining two districts by early 2011 are in progress.

Documents developed in the ePlanning system will be posted on the National BLM NEPA Register where other BLM offices will post NEPA documents in the future.  For additional information please click here to visit the National ePlanning website.
