What is a "Marine Zone Forecast"?
What is a "Marine Point Forecast"?

How can I get a marine forecast via zip, city, or lat/lon?

Did you know that the height of some individual waves may be twice the height of the forecast seas? And may present an even greater danger near shore?

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PRODUCTS VIA ALASKA MARINE VHF VOICE

NOAA broadcasts offshore forecasts, nearshore forecasts and storm warnings on marine VHF channels in the state of Alaska in addition to NOAA Weather Radio. These forecasts are produced by Alaskan National Weather Service Forecast Offices.

In Alaska, marine VHF is monitored during hours that NWS offices are open and personnel available. Mariners are STRONGLY encouraged to report current weather conditions in their operating area.

Information on Rules Which Require Listening to your VHF Marine Radio are available courtesy of the U.S. Coast Guard Maritime Telecommunications Information Webpage.

All NWS marine forecasts rely heavily on the Voluntary Observing Ship (VOS) program for obtaining meteorological observations.
