LEED Building Information
As a result of a 2006 evaluation by GSA of sustainable building rating systems, the Administrator concluded that Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) remains the most credible rating system available to meet GSA’s needs. The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA) requires GSA to re-evaluate the rating systems every five years.
GSA has recently increased its minimum requirement for new construction and substantial renovation of Federally-owned facilities to LEED® Gold, the next highest level of certification. Until recently, GSA required LEED® Silver. GSA presents these LEED® case studies to inspire the people who work for and with GSA to improve current practices and to encourage continuing innovations that create and maintain sustainable work environments.
