Veteran-Owned Small Businesses learn about Federal Opportunities

GSA hosted a White House Business Council roundtable discussion with local veteran-owned businesses at Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth, NH on July 31, 2012. Discussion was on contracting opportunities, job creation and economic competitiveness for veteran-owned businesses.

“Ensuring that the men and women who served this country have the opportunity to contribute to our nation’s economic prosperity is one of the Administration’s top priorities,” said Bob Zarnetske, Regional Administrator of GSA’s New England Region. “This event is a great opportunity for veterans who own businesses to learn how to do business with the federal government.”

The White House Business Council has held over 500 meetings with business and civic leaders in all 50 states. This event has been organized as part of the White House’s ongoing effort to engage local business leaders and job creators across the country, solicit feedback on the Administration’s efforts to support and assist the business sector and identify opportunities for partnership to drive economic growth.

The discussion at the roundtable featured 25 businesses and focused on how the Administration can partner with the local veteran-owned business community in New England to help the region grow and create jobs. GSA contracts with businesses to get the best value in goods and services, which help government agencies serve the American people. GSA’s contracting officers and property managers were on hand to answer questions from veteran business owners about doing business with GSA.
