Opening remarks by Major Gen Susan J. Helms, director, Plans and Policy, U.S. Strategic Command; welcoming remarks by Gen Kevin P. Chilton, commander, U.S. Strategic Command.

"Waging Deterrence in the 21st Century" was the theme for the deterrence symposium sponsored by U.S. Strategic Command, Jul 29-30, 2009. This first deterrence forum was held at the Omaha Qwest Center, Omaha, Nebraska. This yearly event is meant to provide a new venue for information exchange among industry, military and academic leaders in strategic deterrence.
