My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, and two other Americans that lost their lives as a result of this outrageous attack on the U.S. Diplomatic Post in Benghazi, Libya. There ...is nothing that justifies such senseless violence.See More
I hope that we will stay above the political fray and come together as country to mourn the loss of these great foreign servants and pay tribute to the legacy that they left behind. We must continue their work to spread freedom and justice in the world.- Likes

President Barack Obama has proclaimed September 11th as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance so that we may pay tribute to our fallen, do our part to keep America safe, and to respect and care for one another. As we pray for the victims, their families, and survivors of 9/11 I encourage us to build a community of unity, peace and harmony in which we can live without fear of prejudice, hatred or violence.- Today our nation remembers those who were taken from us 11 years ago, on Sept 11. May their families and loved ones find peace and comfort in knowing that we will never forget. Please observe a moment of silence to honor the victims and their memories.

Seven years ago our nation witnessed mother nature's perilous capabilities, which bought massive damages to the homes, communities, schools, businesses and the people of New Orleans. From Hurricane Katrina, we learned to build better coordination between city, state, and federal governments to respond more expediently and efficiently to future emergencies. Presently, the federal government has offered support and various resources to communities that lay in Hurricane Isaac's path as it passes through the Gulf Coast. I am confident in President Barack Obama's leadership as Commander and Chief to ensure safety of the families and communities in the region.
The people of New York's 15th Congressional District join the nation today in paying tribute to those who lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods during Hurricane Katrina and send our prayers to those who lay in harm's way now.Charles Rangel shared a link.
