Basudev Lahiri is a CNST/UMD Postdoctoral Researcher in the Energy Research Group. He received a Bachelor of Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, India, and a Ph.D. in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom. For his doctoral research, he designed and fabricated nanoscale split ring resonators for use as biosensors, measuring shifts in their visible and infrared resonance peaks in response to the presence of organic compounds. Basudev is working with Andrea Centrone fabricating plasmonic nanostructures and using nanoscale infrared imaging to measure the effect of the phase separation on the performance of bulk heterojunction photovoltaic cells with the goal of increasing their efficiency.
