Press Release
SWHR Founder Awarded UNFPA 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award (Oct 4)

Congratulations!
On Monday, September 24th, the long awaited results from the progeria clinical drug trial were published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) and has shown positive results in treating Hutchinson Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS, or “progeria”). Our Scientific Programs Manager, Dr. Monica Mallampalli, a former post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Susan Michaelis at the Johns Hopkins University, performed one such preclinical study in which she created a cell culture model system for progeria and demonstrated the reversal of progeria related phenotypes in the HGPS cell model upon using the FTIs. SWHR is proud to congratulate Dr. Monica Mallampalli and her mentor Dr. Susan Michaelis for their contribution to the field of progeria.
