Under Secretary of the Army Joseph W. Westphal inspects a Chilean unit flag used in 1880 during the War of the Pacific, which involved Chile, Peru, and Bolivia during a recent visit to the History Museum of Morro de Arica, which commemorates the Battle of Arica, June 11, 2012 in Arica, Chile. Westphal participated in the 12th U.S. and Chile Defense Consultative Commission and visited with select Chilean Army units to expand partnership capacity. The U.S. and Chilean defense partnership is focused on a range of initiatives, from disaster response to conducting joint exercises and training.
