- Democrats are moving America forward while Congressional Republicans admit they want to take us back to the “exact same” failed policies of Bush that drove us into the ditch.
- Congressional Republicans are protecting Wall Street, Big Oil, health insurance companies and corporations who use tax loopholes to ship U.S. jobs overseas — voting against investments that put Americans to work building roads, bridges, broadband, wind turbines, and solar panels that will help America lead the world — and voting against tax cuts for small businesses to help create hundreds of thousands of local jobs.
Fox 41 (Kentucky) – Stimulus money goes to sidewalks, roads [MEMBER MENTIONED: John Yarmuth (KY-3)]
It's going to be easier to get around and get a job in Louisville. Expect to see more signs along roadways as crews work to put in new sidewalks, repair damaged ones, and resurface some state and city roads.
The $8.5 million project will be paid for with money from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. That stimulus money is putting hundreds of people to work.
Third District Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth says, "One of the only ways to put people back to work is to do these types of projects, and that's why when we created the stimulus program, we talked about projects that were shovel-ready and projects that could be completed within two years." In San Diego and Imperial counties, 771 businesses have received a total of $454.3 million in loans with the stimulus benefits. [8/17]
