Deniz Bilgin, M.A.

Associate Provost for Evaluation and Standards

Mr. Deniz Bilgin was appointed Associate Provost for Evaluation and Standards in June of 2011.

Bilgin joined DLIFLC as a Turkish language instructor in 1982. In 1987 he became a training specialist at the Educational Technology Division where he worked as a courseware developer and software programmer on the production of foreign language interactive training software. In 1991 he was appointed a supervisory computer specialist at the Directorate of Information Management and served as the chief of the Information Center responsible for technical support to all computer users at the Institute. Following that assignment, he served as chief of Technology Integration Division between March 1995 and November 1999, where he supervised the production of foreign language training software for use by DLIFLC students and field linguists, to include Special Operations Forces. This was followed by his transfer to the Directorate of Evaluation and Standards where he first served as the chief of Evaluation and then as the director of Technology Integration. In that position he oversaw the design, development and implementation of computer delivered test administration technology for the Defense Language Proficiency Test, DLPT5. In June of 2005 he was appointed acting vice chancellor for Evaluation and Standards. In April of 2006 he began to serve as the vice chancellor for operations, a position title which was subsequently changed to associate provost for operations.

In addition to his native Turkish and English, Mr. Bilgin speaks French, German and Farsi. He holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia and an Associate of Science in Computer Information Systems from the Monterey Peninsula College.
