This section explores renewable energy technologies and resources with a special focus on Federal application opportunities. Each page contains a brief overview of the resource along with resource links for in-depth information and research.
It is important to note that the Energy Policy Act of 2005 defines renewable energy as "electric energy generated from solar, wind, biomass, landfill gas, ocean (including tidal, wave, current, and thermal), geothermal, municipal solid waste, or new hydroelectric generation capacity achieved from increased efficiency or additions of new capacity at an existing hydroelectric project."

Resource maps and screening tools are available to determine the availability of renewable resources across the U.S. The project planning section helps Federal agencies determine the best process for developing on-site renewable energy systems.
