Second Lieutenant Sarah Bergstein was recently a part of Pacific Unity 12-6 in the Phillipines. From Aug. 20 to Sept. 20, members of the 647th Civil Engineer Squadron, out of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, partnered with members of the 355th Aviation Engineering Wing from Basa, Philippines, members of the Philippine Army Security Forces and local contractors to renovate seven classrooms and build one schoolhouse from the ground up. Harp is a C-17 Globemaster III loadmaster, currently part of the 817th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, deployed to the Transit Center at Manas, Kyrgyzstan. The book that started it all
Capt. Jason Powell, 435th Contingency Response Group operations officer, received a first-edition copy of "Into the Mouth of the Cat," when he was 13 years old. The book, which tells the story of Capt. Lance P. Sijan, inspired him to become an officer in the U.S. Air Force. Powell met the man who helped tell this story, retired Capt.
