    • Thank you for saying Mitt is becoming a threat to national security. It certainly needed to be said.

10 Korean American high school students wrote an amazing book about U.S. Korean war veterans. They even interviewed Charles Rangel! http://goo.gl/SPrvy

    • Your newsletter asked our opinion on Paul Ryan's voucher plan for Medicare. I accept the figures on how much more this will cost oldsters, but there's another angle that no one seems to be talking about. Should the elderly, whose faculties may be failing or who fear their faculties may be failing (which can be pretty much the same thing in practice) be forced to deal with insurance companies and all their confusion, frustration, double talk, deception, ignorance, flim flam, and irresponsibility ? I am 71 and find Medicare as it stands now to be the most efficient, transparent, rational insurance I've ever had. If I had to not only go out and shop for an insurance company but also have to deal with that company I don't know if I could handle it. Thanks for listening

is nothing that justifies such senseless violence.

I hope that we will stay above the political fray and come together as country to mourn the loss of these great foreign servants and pay tribute to the legacy that they left behind. We must continue their work to spread freedom and justice in the world.

  4. President Barack Obama has proclaimed September 11th as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance so that we may pay tribute to our fallen, do our part to keep America safe, and to respect and care for one another. As we pray for the victims, their families, and survivors of 9/11 I encourage us to build a community of unity, peace and harmony in which we can live without fear of prejudice, hatred or violence.
  5. Today our nation remembers those who were taken from us 11 years ago, on Sept 11. May their families and loved ones find peace and comfort in knowing that we will never forget. Please observe a moment of silence to honor the victims and their memories.
  6. Seven years ago our nation witnessed mother nature's perilous capabilities, which bought massive damages to the homes, communities, schools, businesses and the people of New Orleans. We grieved as one of America's oldest and culturally rich...
est cities, the birthplace of Jazz, was nearly destroyed.

From Hurricane Katrina, we learned to build better coordination between city, state, and federal governments to respond more expediently and efficiently to future emergencies. Presently, the federal government has offered support and various resources to communities that lay in Hurricane Isaac's path as it passes through the Gulf Coast. I am confident in President Barack Obama's leadership as Commander and Chief to ensure safety of the families and communities in the region.

The people of New York's 15th Congressional District join the nation today in paying tribute to those who lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods during Hurricane Katrina and send our prayers to those who lay in harm's way now.

At a White House event today marking the three-month anniversary of the Federal Digital Strategy, U.S. Chief Information Officer Steven VanRoekel announced the launch of the iPad and iPhone versions and cited the Census Bureau as prime example of a federal agency “making great strides towards putting a solid foundation for a 21st Century Digital Government in place.”
