"Ultimately, this Strategy will ensure that agencies use emerging technologies to serve the public as effectively as possible. As a Government, and as a trusted provider of services, we must never forget who our customers are -- the American people." —President Barack Obama, May 23, 2012
On May 23, 2012, President Obama issued a directive entitled "Building a 21st Century Digital Government." The Administration launched a comprehensive Digital Government Strategy (pdf/html5) aimed at delivering better digital services to the American people. The strategy builds on several initiatives, including Executive Order 13571, Streamlining Service Delivery and Improving Customer Service, and Executive Order 13576, Delivering an Efficient, Effective, and Accountable Government.
U.S. Government agencies are asked to "build a 21st century digital Government that delivers better digital services to the American people." This page will publicly report U.S. Department of State progress in meeting the requirements of the Digital Government Strategy.
