Description:
The overall scope of ARRA-funded work in the U Plant Zone includes demolishing ancillary facilities, dispositioning tanks, grout-filling processing cells in the plant, and clearing the plant’s canyon deck. The activities are helping the Department of Energy reduce the footprint of cleanup on Hanford’s Central Plateau. In these photos taken in May, workers are demolishing large, 100,000-gallon vertical tanks. Contractor CH2M HILL plans to demolish the remaining 100,000 gallon tanks, along with five smaller tanks, by the end of June.
