Human trafficking remains a persistent issue in the United States. While new laws have been enacted to aid in the prosecution of human trafficking cases, research suggests that these laws are seldom used. At the 2012 NIJ Conference, Amy Farrell, assistant professor of criminology and criminal justice at Northeastern University, discussed some of the barriers that communities face in identifying and prosecuting human trafficking cases.
