ADR Lunchtime Series - October 7, 2010

The Interagency ADR Working Group ADR Lunchtime Series is hosting Master Mediator Ken Feinberg at the Department of Energy building in Washington DC on Thursday, 7 October, from noon to 1:30 P.M. Mr. Feinberg is one of the nation's leading experts in mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He has overseen the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund, executive compensation under the Troubled Asset Relief Program, the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund at Virginia Tech University, and is currently administering the BP Oil Spill Escrow Fund. This is a great opportunity to hear from one of the Nation's foremost mediators about the strategies for balancing competing interests in complex programs. EEOC Releases Federal Workforce Report for FY 2009

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has released its annual report on the federal workforce for FY 2009. The report contains extensive data regarding the number and disposition of EEO complaints, including use of ADR, in FY 2009. In addition to the government-wide report are profiles of individual agencies and tables detailing individual agency reports. The report is available on the EEOC website. ADR News - ECR Conference 2010

Several HQDA Army and Army Corps of Engineers personnel recently attended the 2010 Environmental Conflict Resolution (ECR) conference in Tucson, Arizona. Hosted by the Udall Foundation, the Theme of ECR 2010 was "Environmental Collaboration and Conflict Resolution - Evolving to Meet New Opportunities." The conference focused on policy challenges of the next decade and the role of ECR, engaging Federal-Tribal-State-Local Governments, and new tools and technology and their application to the field of ECR. NADRC a Rousing Success!

The Army and Air Force ADR Program Offices co-sponsored the 10th Annual Negotiation and ADR Course for attorneys at the Air Force JAG School the week of 21 May 2010. A total of 48 Army and Air Force JAGs and civilian attorneys spent a busy week learning negotiation skills and techniques and putting them to work in real-time. Highlighting the course were guest presentations by Joanna Jacobs, Director of the Department of Justice Office of Dispute Resolution and Dr. Gary Weaver of American University, one of the world’s foremost experts on cross-cultural influences in negotiations. Closing remarks were delivered by Hon. Charles Blanchard, Air Force General Counsel. (Posted 6.10.10)

Mediation Certification Program
(Week of 21 June 2010)

The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, will debut its retooled mediation Certification Program (MCP) course the week of 21 June 2010. The Army ADR Program assisted DEOMI with the course revisions and is participating in its inaugural presentation. (Posted 6.10.10)

Basic Mediation Training
(13 August 2010)

The Army ADR Program Office is scheduled to conduct Basic Mediation training at Ft. Detrick MD the week of 13 August, and at Aberdeen Proving Ground MD the week of 30 August. Dates are subject to change so check the Training Schedule as dates get closer. (Posted 6.10.10)

Don Yenovkian, Army Acquisition ADR Program Director, was recently elected Vice-Chair of the Federal Interagency ADR Working Group Steering Committee. The IADRWG Steering Committee is responsible for coordinating and promoting ADR and conflict management activities among all federal administrative agencies. (Posted 6.10.10)
