American Association for Physical Activity and Recreation - AAPAR is dedicated to enhancing quality of life by promoting creative and active lifestyles through meaningful physical activity, recreation and fitness experiences across the lifespan with particular focus on community-based programs. This organization also offers a Adapted Aquatics Credentialing Course (there are some prerequisites).

American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) - A national professional organization whose goal is to foster advancement in physical therapy practice, research and education.

North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) - NARHA is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the rehabilitation of individuals with physical, emotional and learning disabilities through equine-facilitated activities.

Paralyzed Veterans of America - Promotes a range of activities for its members and other people with disabilities, with special emphasis on activities that enhance lifetime health and fitness.

Special Olympics International - Special Olympics is an international organization dedicated to empowering individuals with mental retardation to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers children and adults with mental retardation year-round training and competition in 26 Olympic-type summer and winter sports.

Special Touch Ministry, Inc; Get Away - Offers a five-day, in-residence, camp-style retreat in several locations for children through adults with mental or physical disabilities.

U.S. Olylmpic Committee Paralympic Military Program - The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) Paralympic Military Program provides post-rehabilitation support and mentoring to American servicemen and women who've sustained physical injuries such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, visual impairment/blindness and stroke. Veterans are introduced to adaptive sport techniques and opportunities through clinics and camps and are also connected with ongoing Paralympic sports programs in their hometowns.

Sesame Street Family Connections - Sesame Street Family Connections is a billingual (English/Spanish) child centered online space where children and adults can interact and stay connected when disance makes everyday communications difficult. Family members can compose encouraging messages to each other, share artwork and videos, upload photos, and get answers to some questions they may have but didn't know how to ask. The Sesame Street Family Connections serves as a free, common and private online place to keep military families connected across the globe.

Military Youth on the Move (MYOM) - A replacement for Military Teens on the Move (MTOM), this site is an easy to use resource that reaches out to youth with creative ways to cope with issues that arise in the face of a move, such as transitioning to a new school, saying goodbye to friends, and getting involved in a new community. The website is divided into three target audiences: elementary school, middle school, and high school. Users simply click on their age group to get started. It also includes information specifically designed to help parents help their children navigate challenges such as a move, a new school, or making decisions about life after high school. Once inside the site, users search different topics that pertain to both military youth in particular and youth in general.

Relocation Apartments - This is a non-profit travel resource site. The site offers extensive resources for finding both short and long term accommodations. Includes a huge resource of apartments and corporate housing for short and long stays world-wide. Relocation Apartments also offers a hub for individuals to find moving and relocation services in their area which can offer direct assistance with their move.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) - A Department of Defense agency that seeks to promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees. Each State and Territory has a local ESGR Program Support Specialist to assist military members and their families in a myriad of employment concerns.

Guide To Reserve Family Member Benefits - (PDF - 2119kb) provides an overview of military benefits and how to access them, identifies eligibility requirements associated with some entitlements, and, most importantly, lets you know where you can obtain assistance when you have specific questions and problems.
