Description/Summary:The Building and Fire Research Laboratory has an established long-term collaboration with the NIST Statistical Engineering Division in the analysis of extreme wind speeds and other extreme phenomena in wind engineering. This site includes material on extreme wind speeds and on effects induced by extreme winds on buildings.
Uses:The site contains links to data sets, software, and publications, as well as instructions for users and numerical examples. |
DetailsType of software: Statistical Authors:The site was developed by Alan Heckert of the Statistical Engineering Division, NIST. Additional contributors are listed in the Acknowledgements section. System/Platform:ASOS-WX - Software for Extraction of Wind Data from ASOS RecordsThe ASOS-WX software was developed and tested in the Microsoft Windows environment using version 7 of MATLAB. It is believed that the MATLAB m-files can be ported to non-Windows (e.g., Linux/Unix) environments with minimal changes. However, the software will not run under version 6 of MATLAB since it makes use of features that were introduced with version 7.If you do not have version 7 of MATLAB and you are running in the Windows 2000/XP environment, you can download and run the "stand-alone" file below. This contains a "compiled" version of the software Special-Purpose Software: MATLAB Functions for Estimation of Peaks from Time Series |
