Current Aviation Color Code: GREEN

Notice Number: 2010/C1
Location: N 45 deg 36 min W 122 deg 30 min
Elevation: 0 ft ( m)

Volcanic Activity Summary: Activity Update: All volcanoes in the Cascade Range are at normal levels of background seismicity. These include Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams in Washington State; Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry Volcano, and Crater Lake, in Oregon; and Medicine Lake volcano, Mount Shasta, and Lassen Peak in northern California.

Recent Observations: Seismicity and ground movements in the Cascades remain at background levels. One of the chief hazards at Cascades volcanoes results from debris flows. As the intensity of the fall storm season progresses, and during the transition from rain to snow at high elevations, the potential for small- to moderate-sized debris flows from Cascades volcanoes increases. Person working or recreating along river channels near the volcanoes should remain alert for any unusual river conditions or noises.

Recent Observations:
[Volcanic cloud height] Unknown
[Other volcanic cloud information] Unknown

Contacts:

Next Notice: A new VAN will be issued if conditions change significantly or alert levels are modified. While a VAN is in effect, regularly scheduled updates are posted at http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov
