The Iraq PRT program has highlighted the challenges that the U.S. government faces in conducting operations in conflicted environments. The Iraq PRT Project collected insights and lessons learned from government, military, and non-governmental officials. Interviews were conducted by the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training under a contract with the Institute of Peace.

The Jeannette Rankin Library Program supports the research needs of the USIP's programs, outside practitioners, researchers, libraries, and a worldwide virtual audience, in the field of international conflict management, through its print and digital collections.
Located on USIP premises, Ron Silver Library serves as a depository of USIP cutting edge research publications. The core library collection encompasses over 4,000 items dealing with peace building, conflict prevention, management, and resolution, diplomacy, negotiation, and mediation, promotion of rule of law, state- building and civil society, reformation and strengthening of peace education systems.

Interlibrary Loan Service - Most materials in the library collection may be requested via interlibrary loan through local libraries in the United States.
On-site research - All USIP publications and other library material can be also used on site.
