LETTER FROM THE MANAGER

Chris L. Holifield

Chris L. Holifield
General Manager
Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling

Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) is responsible for providing installation support to 17,000 military, civilian employees and their families, 48 mission and tenant units, including ceremonial units (United States Air Force Honor Guard, USAF Band, USAF Chaplains, the Navy Ceremonial Guard), various Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Joint Service commands and other DOD and federal agencies.

The 905 acre military installation, located in Southeast D.C., has a rich history, including service to the country in peacetime and in war; serving as the hub for humanitarian efforts to aid other nations; aiding early military and civil aviation pioneers in the exploration of airline routes, procedures and tactics; the testing of military aircraft and the hosting of high level dignitaries, heads of State and Presidents.

As the center of Air Force and Navy ceremonial support, among other missions, its service to the country, active-duty, reserve, retired and visiting military, as well as personnel deployed around the world, continues.

As a single entity, JBAB employs nearly 14,000 military and civilian personnel, many of whom contribute countless hours performing community service and helping enrich the lives of adults and children in the surrounding neighborhoods, communities and schools.

"We're in the business of facilitating the missions of others. We were two services performing two great roles, wearing different uniforms. We basically did the same things, but sometimes we called them different names. We provide the same service – but now in a joint fashion," Joint Base Commander, CAPT Anthony Calandra said during the establishment of JBAB.

The primary mission of the Army and Air Force Exchange Service at JBAB is to provide authorized patrons with quality merchandise and services of necessity and convenience at uniformly low prices. The secondary mission is to generate earnings in support of morale, welfare and recreation (MWR) programs.

JBAB has a Main Exchange, a Military Clothing Store, a Firestone, and a Burger King. All of these facilities are staffed with friendly and knowledgeable associates that are truly customer focused. The Exchange Management Staff and I are committed in allocating the necessary resources and providing the training necessary to accomplish our objectives.

We appreciate your patronage and consider our military and their families to be the best customers in the world! We are focused on our customer and welcome you to provide comments to me at HolifieldC@aafes.com, and I look forward to hearing from you.
