RHEIN-MAIN AIR BASE, Germany — Air Force Brig. Gen. Mike Snodgrass, U.S. Air Forces in Europe Director of Plans and Programs, hands the keys to this longtime airlift base to Manfred Schölch, Frankfurt International Airport executive board vice chairman. The symbolic event, held Dec. 30, 2005, marked the last Air Force function here. After 60 years as the "Gateway to Europe," the United States officially returned the base to Germany at midnight Dec. 31. (Air Force Photo by Capt.
