Information for Herguan University Students

On Sept. 19, attorneys for Herguan University informed SEVP that Herguan University had in fact responded to the Notice of Intent to Withdraw issued Aug. 2. While the response was not forwarded to the proper email address, SEVP accepts the university's response as timely filed and will adjudicate the Notice of Intent to Withdraw on the merits of the case. The Withdrawal on Notice issued Sept. 18 is hereby rescinded. All Herguan University student records that were terminated or placed in canceled status in SEVIS will be returned to active or initial status as applicable.

While SEVP adjudicates the Notice of Intent to Withdraw, Herguan University nonimmigrant students will continue to have the following options:

1. Attend classes at Herguan University, or work at the job for which they were authorized Optional Practical Training and maintain their active status in a manner required by regulations, or

2. Transfer to another SEVP-certified institution.

However, if Herguan University nonimmigrant students are:

  • Unable to attend classes, or unable to work on authorized Optional Practical Training and maintain their active status in a manner required by regulations, or
  • Unable or do not wish to transfer to another SEVP-certified institution

then they immediately (within seven calendar days) must depart the country without prejudice.

Nonimmigrant students who have questions about their options should call the SEVP Response Center at (703) 603-3400. This number is staffed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (EST), Monday through Friday.

Students who call the SEVP Response Center should be prepared to provide the following information to the SEVP staff:

  • First and last name
  • SEVIS ID number
  • Address
  • Telephone number where you can be reached
  • Email address
  • Dates of attendance at Herguan University
  • Educational level and major of study at Herguan University
