July 7, 2011 — ICE investigations result in return of artifacts to Iraq

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) returned a collection of objects illegally imported into the United States from Iraq. The objects were discovered as part of four separate investigations by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Full Story


July 7, 2011 — ICE seizes 850 pounds of marijuana in Tucson

ICE HSI agents seized 850 pounds of marijuana Tuesday night at a local equipment sales business in Tucson, Ariz. The marijuana has an estimated value of more than $425,000. Full Story


July 6, 2011 — ICE returns fugitive pedophile wanted for child rape, extortion to Belgium

This week, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) turned over Andy Vertoont to authorities in Brussels, Belgium. Vertoont was originally arrested by ICE agents and officers, as well as law enforcement personnel from Florida's Marion County Sheriff's Office, in November 2010. At the time of his arrest, he was wanted for child rape and extortion in his native Belgium. Full Story


July 6, 2011 — Mexican man convicted of using US citizen ID and passport to smuggle methamphetamine into US

A Mexican man was convicted of smuggling methamphetamine and misusing a U.S. citizen passport. Ramiro Ramirez-Macias admitted that on March 16 he drove a vehicle from Mexico into the U.S. through the Anzalduas Port of Entry. He presented a U.S. passport in the name of another person to a CBP officer. A vehicle search in a secondary inspection resulted in the discovery of nine bundles of methamphetamine weighing more than two kilograms (4.4 pounds). Full Story


July 5, 2011 — Puerto Rican man sentenced to 28 years in prison for production of child porn

A Puerto Rican man was charged and convicted on four counts of production of child pornography. He employed, used, persuaded, induced, enticed and coerced two female minors and two male minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct. He was sentenced to 28 years in prison and 15 years of supervised release on Thursday for production of child pornography, following an investigation by ICE HSI. Full Story
