Corpus Christi man sentenced to 10 years for possessing child pornography

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A local man was sentenced on Wednesday to 10 years in federal prison without parole and ordered to register as a sex offender for possessing child pornography.  The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD).

Richard Cedor, 55, was sentenced to 120 month by U.S. District Judge Janis Graham. Cedor was also ordered to serve a life term of supervised release and to register as a sex offender.  Cedor was arrested in January after he fled to Mexico.

The ICE investigation was initiated in April 2006, when information was provided to Corpus Christi agents revealing that Cedor paid for a subscription to a child pornography website. In October 2009, CCPD officers executed a search warrant at Cedor's residence and seized a computer. A computer forensic analysis revealed 683 images and seven videos of child pornography. The images and videos were sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) which identified 175 victims uncovered on Cedor's computer equipment.

This investigation was part of Operation Predator, a nationwide ICE initiative to protect children from sexual predators, including those who travel overseas for sex with minors, Internet child pornographers, criminal alien sex offenders and child sex traffickers. Since Operation Predator was launched in July 2003, ICE agents have arrested more than 12,000 individuals.
