Emergency preparedness requires attention not just to specific types of hazards, but also to steps that increase preparedness for any type of hazard. The Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Administration provides a variety of services to help you prepare for a wide variety of hazards, both natural and man-made.

Cold Weather Illness Prevention

Winter weather has descended upon the District and with it comes the potential for cold weather illnesses such as frostbite and hypothermia. In addition, the use of space heaters and or generators can lead to deadly exposures of carbon monoxide poisoning.
