Maj. Gen. James M. Sluder III is the mobilization assistant to the Commander, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

General Sluder is a native of Phoenix, Ariz. He received a congressional appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy, graduating in 1972. After earning his wings as a Marine aviator in 1974, he flew F-4s both on active duty and in the Reserve. In 1987 he transferred to the Air Force Reserve where he flew F-16s and held assignments ranging from squadron commander to the Vice Commander of 10th Air Force. His most recent assignment was as the Director of Air and Space Operations, U.S. Air Forces Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. 

He is a command pilot with more than 5,300 flying hours and has flown combat missions in Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.
