Chaplain (Brig. Gen.) Jack K. Sewell is the mobilization assistant to the Air Force Chief of Chaplains, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. He advises the Chief of Chaplains on issues related to the training, readiness, and utilization of 560 Air Reserve Chaplain Service personnel. In this capacity he assists in developing the Air Force Chaplain Service strategic plan, total force policy and strategic planning objective for the Air Force Reserve Chaplain Program. He coordinates Air Force Reserve related information between the Chief of the Chaplain Service, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command and Headquarters Air National Guard. Chaplain Sewell is a member of both the Air Force Chaplain Service Council and the Reserve Chaplain Service Council. 

Chaplain Sewell received a direct commission into the Air Force Reserve in October 1981. He has served at staff, wing and major command levels, and he has participated in numerous deployments.

In civilian life, Chaplain Sewell was ordained in June 1978 as a Roman Catholic priest of the Diocese of Orange, Calif. He received his law degree from Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, in 1987. Father Sewell has served for 14 years as an associate pastor and pastor, and for 11 years as Adjutant Judicial Vicar, Office of Canonical Services. He is presently Pastor, Our Lady of Fatima Church, San Clemente, Calif. He is also a Federal Aviation Agency certificate flight instructor.
