Maj. Gen. Michael Kim is the Mobilization Assistant to the Director of Operations, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. The directorate is responsible for developing policies and procedures for worldwide air operations and transportation functions assigned to the command. These include cargo and passenger movement, C4 support systems, training and standardization programs.

General Kim entered the Air Force in 1982 as a graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of Maryland, College Park. He separated from active duty in 1997 and joined the Air Force Reserve without a break in service. He has commanded at the squadron level and served as Vice Commander of the 315th Airlift Wing, Charleston AFB, S.C., and 22nd Air Force, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga. General Kim deployed as Deputy Director of Mobility Forces, Combined Air and Space Operations Center, Southwest Asia, and recently served as Commander, 21st Expeditionary Mobility Task Force, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.

A command pilot, he has logged more than 5,000 flying hours in the T-37, T-38, C-130E and C-17.
