Brig. Gen. John T. Quintas is the Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché in the United Kingdom. As the SDO/DATT, he is the principal Department of Defense official at the American Embassy and the representative of the Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the Ambassador and the government of the United Kingdom. He is responsible for the overall direction and management of the Defense Attaché Office as well as the Office of Defense Cooperation.

General Quintas entered the Air Force in 1988 after receiving his commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy. His flying experience includes operational assignments in the F-111 and F-15E aircraft. The general has commanded the 48th Operations Group at RAF Lakenheath, England, the 455th Expeditionary Operations Group at Bagram Airbase, Afghanistan, and most recently served as Commander of the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath. He has held various staff positions including Team Chief at the Joint Warfare Analysis Center and Military Aide to the President of the U.S.

A master navigator, General Quintas has more than 2,700 flying hours in fighter aircraft, including over 480 combat hours supporting Operations Northern Watch, Southern Watch and Enduring Freedom in the F-15E.
