Michael M. "Mike" Hale, a member of the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service, is Deputy Director, Signals Intelligence Systems Acquisition Directorate, National Reconnaissance Office, Chantilly, Va. With the director, he is responsible for leading personnel from across four government agencies to design, develop, and acquire U.S. signals intelligence space systems for the intelligence community, the Department of Defense and allied partners.
Mr. Hale, a native of New York City, N.Y., entered the Air Force after graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He served in acquisition roles for space, aircraft, missile, command and control, communications, intelligence, information technology, surveillance and reconnaissance systems. He commanded a contracting squadron, served in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, and joined the NRO in 2002. Mr. Hale retired from active duty in 2006. He was appointed to the DISES in February 2007.
