EQUAL OPPORTUNITY DIRECTIVE NO. 2002-03
TO: Bureau and Office Equal Opportunity Officers
FROM: E. Melodee Stith, Director, Office for Equal Opportunity
SUBJECT: Executive Order 13166 - Justice Clarifies Guidance
Attached please find a memorandum from Ralph F. Boyd, Jr., Assistant Attorney General of the Civil Rights Division, Department of Justice. The memorandum responds to numerous questions that DOJ has received regarding the requirements of Executive Order 13166 - Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency.
Last year, under EOD 2000-23, I requested that each Bureau provide specific documentation concerning its federally conducted programs and federally assisted programs. Most Bureaus responded; however, if you did not respond to this request, please submit your input by December 1, 2001.
DOJ will be publishing additional guidance in the near future.
