  2. My prayers are with the family and friends of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and the three other Americans tragically killed in the atrocious early morning attack on our consulate in Libya. America must never apologize for standing firm on its own principles, especially when others attack and kill our citizens. The thugs responsible for this heinous act must be immediately caught and brought swiftly to justice. Our nation’s diplomatic corps are among the most dedicated, hard-working and committed Americans we have serving overseas and their safety and security must always be ensured.”
  3. I was pleased to receive the Friend of the Farm Bureau Award today from Bill Bruins, President of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau.

  4. Today we remember the thousands of brave Americans who lost their lives on that fateful day, 11 years ago. Our hearts remain full of pride for the courageous first responders who rushed in, and full of sadness for the families and friends of the victims whose lives were forever changed. Their sacrifice must never be forgotten. We also pay tribute to our troops and our intelligence community who continue to work quietly and selflessly to ensure our homeland is safe and that our freedom and way of life are protected. Today may be the 9-11 anniversary, but every day is a reminder of not only the tragedy and senseless loss, but also of the deep patriotism and love of man it evoked in all of us.
  5. My thoughts and prayers are with Neil Armstrong's family and friends today. Not only was Neil an American hero, but he was an inspiration to millions of people across the world. His first steps on the Moon and his iconic words commemorating the 'one small step' will be remembered and revered for eternity. He was a patriot, a trailblazer and his contributions to science, exploration and history will never be forgotten.
