Engineering Division
The Engineering Division includes the departments of aeronautics, astronautics, civil and environmental engineering, electrical and computer engineering, engineering mechanics, and systems engineering.
AERONAUTICS
The Aeronautics Department teaches the aeronautical engineering program, regarded both nationally and internationally for its mix of world-class courses, facilities and instructors. Supplemented by opportunities for cadet-centered, real-world developmental research, the Academy's aeronautics program provides one of the finest undergraduate aeronautics educations available. ASTRONAUTICS
The Astronautics Department offers majors in astronautical engineering and space operations and a space systems option for the systems engineering major. The department supports the Air Force Academy mission through actively recruiting and maintaining a faculty that is current, skilled and experienced in its highly technical career fields, through maintaining and delivering a curriculum that meets Air Force needs for officers with an understanding of astronautics fields, and through maintaining state-of-the-art computer hardware, software and facilities that enhance delivery of the curriculum and support department research. CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering teaches cadets to maintain buildings and utilities that comprise the Air Force's infrastructure. Areas of specialization include architectural, electrical, mechanical and environmental engineering. Cadets enrolled in the civil engineering major will learn skills related to programming, budgeting, project management, drafting, surveying, planning, feasibility studies, construction management and utilities operations. ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering aims to prepare cadets to excel as officers in a technologically sophisticated Air Force through offering majors in electrical engineering and computer engineering. Phone: 719-333-3190 Web: Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
ENGINEERING MECHANICS
The Department of Engineering Mechanics oversees the engineering mechanics and mechanical engineering majors. The department's mission is to develop in all cadets an understanding of and appreciation for engineering fundamentals and systematic approaches to problem solving, prepare graduates for outstanding service in Air Force engineering specialties, and develop faculty members who will be leaders in the classroom and all other phases of the Academy mission. Phone: 719-333-2531 Web: Department of Engineering Mechanics
SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
The Systems Engineering Department trains cadets to think in systems engineering terms by offering courses designed to integrate a rigorous engineering curriculum augmented with studies in human systems, operations research analysis, program management and the core curriculum. Cadets with majors in systems engineering may specialize in aeronautical systems, communication systems, computer systems, control systems, human systems, information systems, mechanical systems or space systems.
