Transform, Protect, and Advance – DOE’s IT Modernization Strategy

The White House Digital Government Strategy provides a vision for a 21st Century government that works better for the American people. It lays a strong foundation for modernizing technology within the Government and at the Department of Energy (DOE). DOE is taking the three-pillared approach of Transform, Protect and Advance, and has established ten key objectives that will create the IT ecosystem of the future.

The OCIO provides these in concert with the Clinger-Cohen Act, the Paperwork Reduction Act, and the priorities established by the Secretary of Energy.

Including:

  • Enable hybrid cloud computing to conect networks and services
  • Establish cybersecurity policy that is collaborative and ensures flexibility for the structure of the Department
  • Deploy enterpise architecture that embraces platform and device diversity
  • Develop applications that meet the Department's needs

The OCIO also supports the DOE Headquarters Accommodation Program that was established to provide reasonable computer and related telecommunications accommodations to assist employees with disabilities.  For more information, please see Assistive Technologies.
