4/11/2011 - WASHINGTON -- All service members will receive their full mid-month pay they have earned in their paychecks April 15, Pentagon officials said today.

"Basically, all active duty and reserve service members will receive full mid-month pay on the 15th of April," Pentagon spokesman Marine Col. Dave Lapan said. "It may be in two separate payments, but on the 15th everyone will receive their full allotted pay."

Confusion arose about the April 15 payday due to the threatened closure of the U.S. government last week. Administration and congressional leaders came to an agreement that ended that action late April 8.

The Defense Finance and Accounting Service had posted "net pay advice" to some service members, telling them what to expect in their accounts.

"Those net pay advice statements were made ... before we knew there was an agreement to fund the government," Colonel Lapan said. "When those were posted they only showed partial payments, but again, everyone will receive their full pay on the 15th for the duty served and it may be in more than one deposit."

Officials urge service members to check their end-of-month leave and earnings statements carefully. The normal end-of-month statements will be posted to accounts April 22.

The finance and accounting service has restored access to all leave and earnings statements, net pay advice or advice of pay for service members on the myPay website.

"The most-current advice of pay will still only show the partial payments for April 1-8," the finance service posted on its website. "This will allow us to make sure we can still process pay for April 9-15 and take steps to ensure it is in bank accounts on the 15th."

The budget fight isn't going away so 1 Oct we could be doing this for real. Everyone has 6 months to prepare; let's hope we do.

ADB RAF Mildenhall - You should know by now that DFAS does not care a bit about you or any other members of the military. I can't even count the number of times they messed up overpaid me from a TDY or PCS and then took it all back without any type of notification that I was going to be paid zero the next payday. Lord help you if they under pay you. You will have to get the entire chain of command involved to prove DFAS under paid you. Then you could wait up to 2 pay cycles before they can get the problem fixed in the system.

I would be curious to know how many folks learned from the Half Pay scare everyone just went through. I would guess a lot will be at the mall eating out or buying that must have new video game on the 15th when they receive their full paycheck instead of putting some aside for the next fight that is coming. Even it is only 20.00 a payday you have to start someplace. The fight that is coming up over raising the debt ceiling could have far worse results than a short Govt shut down. That's why you should always hope for the best but PLAN for the worse.

So why is that DFAS can fix this problem for everyone but can't correct an obvious error in an Airman's pay in the time between when the LES is posted and the time they are paid? It astounds me that DFAS claims to be unable to make any changes to pay after the time an LES is posted when the member can discover a pay problem but can fix this issue. This is the kind of effort we should be able to expect from DFAS each month not just when the news media is watching.
