State Profile

New Jersey is located on the east coast of the United States, with its state capital located in Trenton. New Jersey has 21 counties and 566 municipalities spread over 7,504.8 square miles of land. Among the 50 states and District of Columbia, the state ranked as the 11th most populous. According to the 2010 Census, New Jersey has a population of 8,791,894 residents. New Jersey residents are predominantly Caucasian 68.6%), with a significant African-American population (13.7%) and Hispanic population (17.7%). Asians make up only 6.4% of the state's population.
