Description: Supervisory Guidance on Pillar 2 Reviews Related to Implementation of Basel II Advanced Approaches RuleThe Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Office of Thrift Supervision have issued final guidance outlining the supervisory review process for banking organizations implementing the new advanced capital adequacy framework known as Basel II. The final guidance relating to supervisory review is aimed at helping banking organizations meet certain qualification requirements in the advanced approaches rule, which took effect April 1. This guidance supplements the advanced approaches final rule and describes the process for supervisory review under that rule. The guidance covers three main areas: i) comprehensive supervisory review of capital adequacy; ii) compliance with regulatory capital requirements; and iii) internal capital adequacy assessment process.
