Other Services

Through the dedication of staff and volunteers, the USO operates more than 160 locations worldwide, each providing programs and services geared to serve the unique needs of the community it supports. In addition, find a listing of online resources here.

Telephone, Internet and E-mail Access
Free Internet and e-mail access is available for our troops and their families in USO centers.

Libraries and Reading Rooms
Libraries and reading rooms are available in most USO centers for our troops and their families. There is a take-a- book/leave-a-book policy so you can take a book from one USO center and leave it at the next.

Nurseries and Children's Play Areas
Many USO centers have designated areas for children. They offer a quiet place with changing tables and portable cribs for parents to tend to their little ones. For older children, play areas are a place for kids to watch movies, read books and play with fun educational toys.

Cultural Awareness
USO centers offer an array of cultural, education, and recreational activities, which may include free tickets or reduced rates to theatres, movies, sporting and museum events, and sightseeing tours. Overseas USO centers offer classes on foreign languages, cooking and other cultural activities to make you comfortable in your new environment.

Recreational Activities
Because our troops and their families are often in locations for short periods of time, USO centers offer an instant sense of community. Activities vary by center location but are offered to all service men and women and their families. Bingo nights, video game tournaments, holiday programs, family support groups and free dinner nights are just a few activities that are available.

Regional Tours
Many USO centers overseas offer a broad range of low-cost tours to help educate and familiarize service men and women with their surroundings. Many overseas centers offer half-day, full-day and overnight tours to such locations as Paris, London, Frankfurt, the Rhein Main area, Korea and many other tourist destinations.

Information and Referral/Recreation Services
Many USO centers provide community welcome packets, maps, travel brochures, cultural and entertainment information, hotel/motel and restaurant listings, social service programs, as well as information on local services and programs offered by the surrounding military installations. The USO also provides referrals and follow-up services for those needing future assistance.

New Spouse Orientation
Moving to a new area is often a difficult transition. Many USO centers offer orientation programs to help acclimate new residents to the culture and community.

Support Groups
With troops being deployed to locations around the world, military life is not always easy and having someone in the same situation to talk to can be comforting. That is why many USO centers have established local support groups where family members can gather to provide support and encouragement to one another.
