Herat Spanish Contingent Delivers Humanitarian Aid to Afghan Women
Maj. (OF-3) Jacinto CHOZAS, SP AF FSB HERAT Public Information Officer Regional Command-West Public AffairsHerat, Afghanistan– The Herat Female Support Battalion met a group of Afghan women, representatives of different entities, different associations and Police Forces.
The purpose of the meeting was to deliver humanitarian assistance shipped from Spain and to continue ongoing support.
During the meeting, representatives of the Afghan women, had the opportunity to discuss with the female military members of the Spanish, Italian and American contingents that were present, the situation and specific problems that affect them.
Among other entities represented at the meeting, was the Herat Provincial Council, the directorate of Women Affairs, Widow Women Association and Afghan National Border Police.
Spanish Col. Carlos de Palma, FSB Herat commander, welcomed the participants and expressed the appreciation for the steady support these entities carry out in order to improve conditions of the Afghan women and their children in Afghanistan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the various humanitarian aid supplies, including materials specifically suited for their work such as backpacks, first-aid kits, laptops, etc., was presented to the women.
