Protecting Public Health and the Environment.

Welcome!

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is the state agency tasked with  ensuring clean air, water, and land in the state and protecting Idaho citizens from the adverse health impacts of pollution. We work with federal and state agencies, local governments, businesses and industries, community organizations, and citizens to identify and implement cost-effective environmental solutions.

Among DEQ's key responsibilities are monitoring air and water quality, issuing permits to limit emissions of pollutants, developing plans to restore water bodies to healthy conditions, protecting drinking water, and overseeing management of hazardous and solid wastes and cleanup of contaminated sites. We also provide outreach and technical assistance to help Idahoans understand and comply with environmental laws and rules.

We invite you to explore our website to learn more about efforts underway to preserve the quality of Idaho's environment for use and enjoyment today and in the future.
