The Fort Campbell High School wrestling program took another step forward this year, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the contributions of two seniors.

Senior Tim Nikolao went 20-9 in the 220-pound class this year, culminating with a fourth-place finish in the region that qualified him for the state tournament.

“Tim has been a huge inspiration this entire season, wrestling through injuries,” said head coach Anthony Shingler. “With our team made up of mainly underclassman, he has been a good role model to them all. I wish him the best in the future.”

Nikolao finished sixth in the region as a freshman, posting a 14-12 record.

Senior Christian Vasquez completed his first year of competitive wrestling, compiling a 9-12 record.

“Christian worked hard all season to pick up wrestling and came into a starting role for part of the season,” said Shingler. “He really stepped up and won a dual for us against Calloway County early in the year. I wish him the best in college.”

Fort Campbell should return David Sahms next year, who became the first Falcon to medal since 2008 when he placed seventh in the state tournament.
