The leadership track of the ACCP presidency confers a unique 4-year experience. There is a cascade of emotions that an individual goes through, spanning from excitement and joy at being told of the nomination committee’s decision, to probably one of the most memorable and inspiring moments in one’s life when the office of presidency is conferred during the convocation ceremony, to the stark realization of the huge responsibility that the position bestows upon the individual, and, finally, the sobering experience that clinical responsibilities in the hospital need to be juggled very carefully with the additional and fairly heavy commitment to the College.
