PEACHTREE CITY, GA — May 28, 2010 — Dr. Linda Curtis, Area Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDS-Cuba) announced today that Mrs. Pansy Straub has been named principal of Lincoln Elementary School, at Fort Campbell, in the Kentucky District. Current Principal Sandy Meacham is leaving for DoDDS-Europe.

Straub has served as Assistant Principal at Mahaffey Middle School since 2004. She came to DoDEA in 1988 and taught first through fifth grade at Barkley Elementary School for eight years. She served as the Assistant Principal at Wassom Middle School for nine years, and also served as the interim and acting principal.

“We are very fortunate to have Mrs Straub as the principal at Lincoln Elementary School,” said Dr. Jo Blease, Fort Campbell Schools Assistant Superintendent. “She brings strong administrative skills to the position and she is truly dedicated to military children and their families.”

Straub earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, Md. Her teaching credentials include secondary, middle and elementary levels and she holds administrative certification on all levels. Straub received her Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and her Education Specialist Degree from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn.

Straub and her husband, John, have three grown children and five grandsons.
